Special Strides is very excited to add Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy, a needed and exciting service, to our array of Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT). Currently, we offer a Medical/ Therapeutic Model (Physical and Occupational Therapy), a Recreational Model (therapeutic/ adaptive riding and driving), and an Educational Model (EQUUS and Equine Facilitated Learning). We welcome, Martha Heinkel MS, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with many years of clinical experience and expertise. She will be joining our therapy team providing mental health services.
Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy is here and Martha is helping clients and families in ways we have eagerly anticipated for several years.
“….. After my daughter had her second session with Martha i was utterly amazed. We spoke about my daughter and I learned for the first time to celebrate her uniqueness instead of trying to change it. Martha was the first person to help me and my daughter see this as an asset.”
….. the mother of a current client receiving EFP
